A Bolt From The Blue
03:57
|
|
||
Another day is passing by
But somehow it feels so different
Like it's grown beyond it's average size
The bell rings loud and clearly
So I pack my books away
Though I've been taken by surprise
We see each other packing up
The pupils see each other
And as I look into your wondrous eyes
You send me a song, like a bolt from the blue
It's swimming all through my head
You send me a song, like a bolt from the blue
Though we could both look away instead
I'm writing a song that was sent from the blue
And it's all because of you
The Christchurch sun beats down outside
It burns me by the second
As I go and get some food to eat
'The song was just a glitch' I think
I bite into my sandwich
And things are the way they are supposed to be
But then I see you smile my way
I thought the class was over
But now I know it's really clear to see
You send me a song, like a bolt from the blue
It's swimming all through my head
You send me a song, like a bolt from the blue
Though we could both look away instead
I'm writing a song that was sent from the blue
And it's all because of you
I hear that school bell chiming
But this isn't another class of tests
I'm finally going home this time
The bustling children pass me by
I feel that life will just go on
And everything will be alright
But just like that you walk of past
I try to hide my face
But then I suddenly realize
You send me a song, like a bolt from the blue
It's swimming all through my head
You send me a song, like a bolt from the blue
Though we could both look away instead
I'm writing a song that was sent from the blue
And it's all because of you
You send me a song, like a bolt from the blue
You send me a song, like a bolt from the blue
You send me a song, like a bolt from the blue
You send me a song, like a bolt from the blue

Hibiscus Leaves
03:11
|
|
||
She was standing tall and proud right over there
They could have said the words but they didn't even dare
I didn't want to leave, I could've stayed all day
She let another one go, and as she came my way
I saw something that they couldn't see
I could see hibiscus leaves
They were placed all through her hair
She said 'Hello, how have you been'
All I could do was stop and stare
And in our trees I still can see hibiscus leaves
I was tired but I soldiered on for her
Though I wanted to be seen I didn't want to cause a stir
We went and got a drink, I told her I would pay
She wrote her number, then she told me 'You should call someday'
It was a sign that no one else could read
I could see hibiscus leaves
They were placed all through her hair
She said 'Hello, how have you been'
All I could do was stop and stare
And in our trees I still can see hibiscus leaves
We danced together a thousand times too long
I tried to make her stay for my bond to her was strong
She got into her car and she was on her own
She went over the horizon, I was all alone
I rung the number that she left for me
I could see hibiscus leaves
They were placed all through her hair
She said 'Hello, how have you been'
All I could do was stop and stare
And in our green Pacific trees I still can see hibiscus leaves
They were placed all through her hair
She said 'Hello, how have you been'
All I could do was stop and stare
And in our trees I still can see hibiscus leaves
And in our trees I still can see hibiscus leaves
And in our trees I still can see hibiscus leaves

I Take A Look Around
03:18
|
|
||
The transit van pulls up again
Fifty one times in the last two months
I've been locked in this lions den
I see the buildings passing by
The rain begins to fall
And so tears form in my eyes
I take a look around, what do I see?
A long haired girl who is waiting for me
I've been away for such a long long time
And I can't get her out of my mind
I leave the transit van again
For seven hours we've been travelling these roads
But it's feeling more like ten
I grab a suitcase badly packed
The sun it may be out
But I can't help looking back
I take a look around, what do I see?
A brown haired girl who is waiting for me
I've been away for such a long long time
And I can't get her out of my mind
The transit van pulls away again
Fifty two times in the last three months
I've been locked in this lions den
I see new buildings rushing by
The rain begins to pour
And so tears fall from my eyes
I take a look around, what do I see?
A brown eyed girl who is waiting for me
I've been away for such a long long time
And I can't get her out of my mind
I take a look around, what do I see?
A long haired girl who is waiting for me
I've been away for such a long long time
And I can't get her out of my mind
I can't get her out of my mind
I can't get her out of my mind

The Prettier You Are
03:06
|
|
||
You read Woman's Weekly magazines
And watch beauty pageant films
You want your clay body to be melted down
And remodeled in a fiery kiln
For you have adopted their wrongful chants
From the mediums they use to scream
The say "THE PRETTIER YOU ARE
THE PRETTIER YOU NEED TO BE!"
Your parents are the warm and supportive kind
They love you as you are
But you feel like the darkest blackest hole
In a sky full of shining stars
They've blinded you so you cannot see
And they've implanted dangerous dreams
The say "THE PRETTIER YOU ARE
THE PRETTIER YOU NEED TO BE!"
But their makeup is overdone
So look into your bedroom mirror just this once
And see the beauty that lies within you
Your friends are all out on the street
Wearing the latest in skirts and gowns
And although your wardrobe is just the same
They all feel like hand-me-downs
For they've shut of your mind from reality
There's on one this they make you see
The say "THE PRETTIER YOU ARE
THE PRETTIER YOU NEED TO BE!"
But their makeup is overdone
So look into your bedroom mirror just this once
And see the beauty that lies within you
You read Woman's Weekly magazines
And watch beauty pageant films
You want your clay body to be melted down
And remodeled in a fiery kiln
For you have adopted their wrongful chants
From the mediums they use to scream
The say "THE PRETTIER YOU ARE
THE PRETTIER YOU NEED TO BE!"
"THE PRETTIER YOU ARE
THE PRETTIER YOU NEED TO BE!"

Radiant

Very pretty, radiant
She touched down in this town three weeks ago
Her time and money has been spent
On a trip around the world, to towns she doesn't know
I met her in her hotel room
And now her time will end in a troubled way
For when she comes and walks with me
SHE WILL NEVER SEE HER HOME AGAIN
Stamping, drawing, painting art
She came from Cornwall half way 'round the world
I don't know where to even start
The whirlpool of her eyes has begun to swirl
And now our lines of life have crossed
She must understand things will never be the same
For when she comes and walks with me
SHE WILL NEVER SEE HER HOME AGAIN
She'll come with me to the southwest hills
As long as she has written her will
I'll pick her up because I know the way
Standing, looking a little lost
Se hasn't been around these parts before
When she comes with me after a coin is tossed
She won't use her legs for walking anymore
When word gets back to Lincoln Town
Her friends and family won't know what to say
For when she comes and walks with me
SHE WILL NEVER SEE HER HOME AGAIN
She'll come with me to the southwest hills
As long as she has written her will
I'll pick her up because I know the way
Very pretty, radiant
She touched down in this town three weeks ago
Her time and money has been spent
On a trip around the world, to towns she doesn't know
I met her in her hotel room
And now her time will end in a troubled way

For when she comes and walks with me

Out From Under Water
03:37
|
|
||
I've been coughing water out my lungs
I don't know how or why it got there
I've been drowning, I've been lonely,
Just because I had a girl, she left me, now I'm stuck here
But now I'm feeling better
And I think the time has come for coming clean
I went swimming in the ocean just because
I'd meant to tell the sea my secrets
I didn't see the riptide of my mind
That would throw my heart into the deep end
I'm soaked but I'm still swimming
I have songs and stories you will not believe
Cos' now I'm out from under water
And I'm feeling oh so fine
I am out from under water
There are no more tears to cry
I wasn't sure but now I'm certain
I won't be drowning in the water
I was happy when the waves came overhead
But then the force of nature pulled me under
I tried paddling to safety, but I failed
And everything I knew was torn asunder
I started pushing upward
And I got up to the surface so I could breathe
And now I'm out from under water
And I'm feeling oh so fine
I am out from under water
There are no more tears to cry
I wasn't sure but now I'm certain
I won't be drowning in the water
I still don't know if I could ever go back to the sea again
I fear if I return then sadness will become my friend again
I hope my time with him is over
This time I'm out from under water
I am out from under water
And I'm feeling oh so fine
I am out from under water
There are no more tears to cry
I wasn't sure but now I'm certain
I won't be drowning in the water
